Maria has over 20 years of experience in the interface between iwi/hapu and Councils, Crown agencies and the private sector focusing on resource and environmental management.

She has worked across iwi focused projects and large scale consents including the Tongariro Power Development, the first large scale reconsenting to occur under the RMA, commercial easements of iwi owned lakes and gaining the first Section 33 Transfer of Monitoring functions from a Regional Authority to a Iwi Authority.

Maria also has experience in a number of governance roles and holds a Bachelor of Science majoring in Environmental Science from Auckland University of Technology.
